Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) and Miles Industry Advisory (MIA) have teamed up to launch a 5S and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) Pilot Program — giving Queensland manufacturers real tools to sharpen operations, cut waste, and gear up for future growth.

Led by Trent Miles, founder of MIA, this pilot program draws on over 20 years of hands-on Lean transformation and operational strategy experience. This isn’t theory — it’s practical, on-the-ground change.

The program focuses on two of Lean’s most powerful tools:

• 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain): A practical system to create cleaner, safer, more productive workplaces that lift team pride and performance.

• Value Stream Mapping (VSM): A visual way to see the full flow of work — exposing bottlenecks, delays, and opportunities to streamline processes and boost delivery speed.
